I cry on planes. Especially the long hauls, when you’re up in the air for almost an entire day watching movies you haven't heard of and will never recommend. There’s something about floating through the clouds, cramped amongst hundreds of strangers that makes me feel comfortable letting it all out. And I fly a lot. I wonder if the Marketing departments of major airlines have ever considered on-flight sampling of Prozac and free therapy to Diamond members. Because that could really drive sales.
Drugs and consolation would have done wonders while wedged into an economy class middle seat on a 17 hour flight to Hong Kong. My tears were certainly not over the unexpected twist of being asked to work in the Hong Kong office instead of A'dam. That was a thrilling last minute change of plans. It was just sad leaving Wisconsin. I hadn't been home for that long since high school and it was highly enjoyable to be with my family.
But hey ho! I was on my way to China for 6 weeks to work with my dear friend Sue. You may recall Susie Q and her husband Paul as being the dynamic duo who convinced me to sign up for colonic hydrotherapy at a spa in Koh Samui. Colonic hydrotherapy wasn't as bad as having skin parasites, but it was a close second. With that track record we'll have to see what else they convince me of in HK.
Paul and Sue were sweet enough to let me stay with them in their 33rd floor apartment and help me search for a serviced apartment. After a bit of looking, and some negotiations from Paul, we found a great spot in Causeway Bay a short walk from the bus to the office. Not to mention it plays spa music in the elevator which is designed, I'm sure, to calm you down after fighting the crowds of Causeway Bay (think Times Square in NYC).
As to be expected, within 24 hours of being back in the office my computer crashed (again) and despite having 3 phones (Dutch, US and Honkers) none of them appear to have full functionality. So I'm operating a bit slow in one of the fastest paced cities in the world. I am also feeling very white, a touch too tall and terribly alien...wondering when in the hell did Hong Kong become so Chinese?

| Not a person around in Wisconsin, they might need to rethink their marketing. Then again, looks ok as is. |
